Expert: Chrysler Plan Could Wreck Capital Markets

Taking money from retirees and giving it to the unions = theft.

Newswise — The federal government’s Chrysler restructuring plan poses a major threat to capital markets, and Indiana pension plans are correct in opposing it, says a finance expert at the University of Indianapolis.
The Chrysler proposal would pay just 29 cents on the dollar to secured creditors while paying billions to unsecured creditors, such as the United Auto Workers union. Such a move would violate the most basic ground rules that guide investors, says Matt Will, associate professor of finance at UIndy.
“It disrupts 100 years of bankruptcy law,” Will says. “Instead of being first in line, you’re last in line.”

Victimhood or Brotherhood?

NO TWO-STATE SOLUTION
Here is the meme circulating among Jewish groups that are scrambling to develop effective strategies to counter President Obama's embrace of the Muslim word at the expense of Israeli security:
If you say “NO TWO-STATE SOLUTION” you will look like extremists, and few, other than the “choir,” will listen to you. You should be much more thoughtful.
Yes, we should be more thoughtful.
There is a two-state solution already in place, Israel and Jordan.
After voting overwhelmingly for Barack Obama, only to see him pursue relentlessly anti-Israel policies, what should American Jews do now?
The Palestinian Ambassador to Lebanon, Abbas Zaki, recently said that the two-state solution will bring about Israel’s collapse:

U.S. Courts Should ‘Download’ International Law into Domestic Law, Obama Nominee Says

Transnational networks, according to Koh, are created when governments and NGOs – groups such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch – work together to create international norms. Courts – Koh’s “interpretive communities” – then incorporate these norms into domestic law.

(CNSNews.com) – Harold Koh, nominated by President Barack Obama to be the State Department’s top legal adviser, once argued that U.S. federal court judges – including the Supreme Court – are the “critical link” between international and domestic law and play a critical role in bringing international norms into force as domestic law.

Koh, currently dean of the Yale Law School, explained that his concept of “transnationalism” was the “downloading” of international laws and customs into domestic law, whether through the legislative process or through federal courts’ use of international law in interpreting the Constitution of the United States.

Writing in the Penn State International Law Review (Vol. 24, No. 4, 2006), Koh argued that federal judges were the linchpin in transnational law due to their ability to unilaterally read international or foreign legal standards into their interpretations of the U.S. Constitution.

Protest Obama and Reid in Las Vegas – May 26th

This protest is a part of Our Country Deserves Better PAC’s “Defeat Harry Reid” campaign to remove Harry Reid from the Senate in 2010. For more information on that, and to check out our TV ad, please click here.

Our Country Deserves Better PAC is holding a protest against the failed liberal policies of Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) and Barack Obama at a high-profile liberal fundraiser that will be headlined by none other than Barack Obama himself at Caesar’s Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas, Nevada on Tuesday, May 26th at 5:00pm.

We are inviting the news media to cover this protest, so please join us, bring your friends – and help us ensure a huge crowd turns out to protest Reid & Obama.

The protest will be outside the Caesar’s Palace Colosseum along South Las Vegas Blvd.

The recent Tea Parties have shown how determined Americans are to speak out against the liberal policies of wasteful spending, out-of-control deficits and bailouts.  Now it’s time for us to speak out directly to – and also hold accountable – those behind these quasi-socialistic policies of Big Government, which come at the expense of the freedom and liberty of the individual.

Chuck Norris :: Townhall.com Columnist Outlawing Opinion

Sounds so far-out, doesn't it? Offensive speech being punishable by law? But it might not be that far off for America, especially if the course of free speech continues on its present track -- a path of progressive restrictions, both from our government and our culture.

It greatly alarms me that Americans' constitutional right of freedom of speech is being squeezed out of our culture.

Several years ago, I watched then-"20/20" correspondent Diane Sawyer interview Saddam Hussein, who was dictator of Iraq at the time. She respectfully confronted him for the atrocities and executions he used as punishments for people who merely spoke out against him, his rule or his politics. Surprisingly naive of America's constitutional basis, Saddam asked, "Well, what happens to those who speak against your president?" (He clearly was expecting that such speech was also a crime in the U.S. and punishable by law.) Shocked by his sheer ignorance of the U.S. -- and somewhat at a loss for words herself -- Diane quipped back in answering his question, "They host television talk shows!" Saddam's facial expression revealed that he was totally confused by her answer.

What Are the Priorities for the U.S. Justice Department?

Johnsen is not just "pro-choice." Plenty of pro-choice people are against the horrible partial-birth abortion procedure. For Johnsen abortion seems to be above all laws, including the Constitution. That seemed clear when in a Supreme Court brief she was willing to manipulate the Thirteenth Amendment, directed towards slavery, to promote a woman's right to terminate the life of her unborn baby.

With yet another radical, life-long committed abortion advocate tapped to a high-ranking position at the United State Department of Justice (DOJ), one has to wonder what the Obama Administration's priorities are when it comes to law enforcement. If this administration were to commission the painting of the President's portrait, you'd assume they would call on an exceptional artist with a proven record in this area, someone whose work is distinguished in portraits and fine art. They wouldn't call on a life-long house painter

Looking at many of President Obama's nominations, you would think he was staffing Planned Parenthood's legal staff instead of the DOJ.

Sen. Coburn: Is there any circumstance in which you believe that law should recognize an unborn child as an individual, separate from the mother?

The Status of Non-Muslim Minorities Under Islamic Rule

Dhimmitude is an entire integrated system, based on Islamic theology. It cannot be judged from the circumstantial position of any one community, at a given time and in a given place. Dhimmitude must be appraised according to its laws and customs, irrespectively of circumstances and political contingencies.

Dhimmitude: the Islamic system of governing populations conquered by jihad wars, encompassing all of the demographic, ethnic, and religious aspects of the political system. The word "dhimmitude" as a historical concept, was coined by Bat Ye'or in 1983 to describe the legal and social conditions of Jews and Christians subjected to Islamic rule. The word "dhimmitude" comes from dhimmi, an Arabic word meaning "protected". Dhimmi was the name applied by the Arab-Muslim conquerors to indigenous non-Muslim populations who surrendered by a treaty (dhimma) to Muslim domination.

Dhimmitude encompasses the relationship of Muslims and non-Muslims at the theological, social, political and economical levels. It also incorporates the relationship between the numerous ethno-religious dhimmi groups and the type of mentality that they have developed out of their particular historical condition which lasted for centuries, even in some Muslim countries, till today.

Slur-Filled Web Site Hurtful but Not Illegal

Wow, do these kids need help.

Before the digital age, there was simply nasty writing on the restroom wall. Now, in the say-it-all era of the Internet, the darker side of teenage expression has found a new place to fester.

It is a hive of anonymous slander where girls are listed by name as promiscuous and teachers are accused of being fat and in some instances of having sex with students. There are racial rants. Barbs about being gay. Last week, a teenager posted a rambling threat to kill students and staff members at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, which led to the arrest of a 17-year-old who had recently moved to Tennessee.

"It's vile," said Whitman Principal Alan Goodwin, who added that he is a firm believer in free speech but is vexed by the anonymity that the Web site, http://www.peoplesdirt.com, provides for maligning remarks against high schoolers who are named. "Some of these things are causing certain students great distress," he said.

America's Trade Buddies Top Ten U.S. Export & Import Partners

America's deficit in the year before "Operation Iraqi Freedom" invasion started on March 20, 2003 rose 64% to $767.5 billion in 2005 from $468.3 billion in 2002.

Telling statistics reveal which countries bought the most American exports & sold the most imports at the expense of Uncle Sam's deficit since the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
Top 10 Countries Contributing to U.S. Trade Deficit
  • China ... -$201.5 billion (up 95.4% from 2002)
  • Japan ... -$82.5 billion (up 17.9%)
  • Canada ... -$78.5 billion (up 62.9%)
  • Germany ... -$50.6 billion (up 40.9%)
  • Mexico ... -$49.7 billion (up 33.6%)
  • Venezuela ... -$27.6 billion (up 157.9%)
  • Malaysia ... -$23.2 billion (up 69.3%)
  • Nigeria ... -$22.6 billion (up 361.2%)
  • Saudi Arabia ... -$20.4 billion (up 142.9%)
  • Italy ... -$19.5 billion (up 37.3%)
  • Yet perhaps the most prevalent trend in international trade is globalization. Specifically, American companies like McDonald's, Starbucks, Wal-Mart and Microsoft are expanding into high-growth countries around the world in their quests to boost cash inflows into the pockets of American companies while U.S. jobs are outsourced to the host nations.
