"A lot of thoughts have run through my mind, maybe home-schooling, trying to keep my children safe," said Shelley Lewis, who has paid attention to the arrests of both public and private teachers on everything from sexual misconduct to animal cruelty. "My stepson goes to a school and a teacher was just arrested, a teacher that he's looked up to, someone that's really important to him," explained Lewis. "And we just try to explain to him that unfortunately even good people, even people that look good, are not always good on the inside." It is difficult for many parents to explain this to children. "This is not good, nice behavior that we want our children to emulate," said child psychologist Myles Cooley.
